The new executive board is also made up of two vice-presidents — Reuben Mkandla and Tsitsi Angellah Sigauke — as well as honorary treasurer Roy Pedzisai Gotora.

Mlambo said the new leadership had taken over at a challenging time.

“We have taken the reins at a time the ship is under siege from the turbulent waters of the global financial crisis, domestic macro-economic transformation and internal organisational dynamics,” he said.

Mlambo expressed hope that the incoming leadership would work closely with all their stakeholders, adding that the funding, human resources and the organisation’s constitutional challenges were not lost on him.

“A combination of these and other factors seriously impaired our capacity to discharge our mandate effectively,” he said. “Only unity of purpose and nothing else can extricate us from this quagmire.”

He challenged the new board to immediately get to work as there was “no time for honeymoon” in light of the extent to which the vulnerable, who constitute their constituency, were suffering. Mlambo said values that include honesty, transparency, accountability and respect would reposition the ZRCS to effectively play its role.
