The 32-year-old Musiyiwa, based in London, was due to face the undefeated Irish fighter at the Neptune Stadium in Cork, Ireland, tomorrow.

However, O’Sullivan is believed to have sustained an injury to his ribs during a sparring session last week. The injury has worsened since then, forcing the promoters to postpone the bout.

A statement from fight promoter Michael O’Regan yesterday read: “Micheál O’Regan Promotions is sorry to announce the postponement of The Rebel Rising professional boxing event to a date in February 2013 that will be confirmed in the next 24-48 hours. Spike sustained an injury to his ribs, making a fight on Saturday night impossible to proceed with.”

The big match between Musiyiwa and O’Sullivan was set to headline the bill on a big night boxing dubbed “Rebel Rising Show”.
