JUDGMENT on a bail application by incarcerated 26 MDC-T activists that was expected to be delivered yesterday by High Court judge Justice Chinembiri Bhunu was again postponed to Monday next week.

The activists, who have been behind bars for over 17 months over the alleged murder of Police Inspector Petros Mutedza in May last year, had applied for bail through their lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa. The court will at the same time rule on an application by prosecutor Edmore Nyazamba, who applied for one State witness in the matter, Edna Chihota, to testify in camera to avoid eye contact with the accused persons.
Three of the suspects’ co-accused, MDC-T youth assembly president Solomon Madzore and party activists Lovemore Taruvinga Magaya and Cynthia Manjoro, were granted bail by the same court last month after investigating officer Chief Inspector Clever Ntini failed to disprove their alibis.
Justice Bhunu reserved judgment last Thursday saying he needed time to consider submissions made by both State and suspects’ counsels in order for him to make an informed determination.
The judge is also expected to decide on an application by Nyazamba, who urged the court to consider re-imposing reporting conditions against Manjoro, Madzore and Magaya, arguing the trio were a flight risk.
