The two tours will provide an opportunity for upcoming local players to measure themselves against quality provincial age group sides from South Africa.

The Under-14 side will leave on December 8 for their tournament which will be in Boland from the 9th to the 13th of the month.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer David Mutendera, now a development coach at ZC, will coach the Under-14 team while Moses Chitare will be team manager.

The team comprises upcoming players from the schools systems expected to form the nucleus of the future national Under-19 team.

The CSA Under-14 week is where young cricketers experience the first form of competitive cricket during primary school and it has proved to be an important stepping stone for a fruitful cricketing career for the youngsters.

The Under-17 squad on the other hand, will leave the country on December 11 for their tournament which will be held in Cape Town from December 12-16.

Former Zimbabwe coach Walter Chawaguta will be coach of the team while Nicholas Singo will be the team manager.

Started in 1986, the CSA Cricket Week is a key component of the South African board’s development programme.

According to the CSA website, “the CSA Week is part of a pathway from grassroots levels through to the national team and provides aspiring cricketers with an opportunity to realise their full potential.”
