The event will be hosted by the Zimbabwe Academic and Non-fiction Authors’ Association (Zana), Bulawayo. Zana information and publicity secretary Phathisa Nyathi yesterday said they would use this year’s commemorations to remember deceased writers from Bulawayo.

“As has become the norm over the years, Zana will celebrate the day. In addition, Zana will use the occasion to remember the dear departed writers, in particular those that hailed from Bulawayo. For each writer, a candle will be light and allowed to burn out,” Nyathi said.

The Day of the African Writer is celebrated each year on November 7 by various stakeholders in the publishing and writing profession.
