MDC-T leader Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is set to launch his party’s economic blueprint JUICE on Thursday two months after it was postponed under unclear circumstances, the party national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa has said. REPORT BY MOSES MATENGA STAFF REPORTER
Chamisa made the remarks while addressing party members during a report-back meeting in Kuwadzana on Sunday.
JUICE — an acronym for Jobs, Upliftment, Investment, Capital and Environment — is an equivalent of Zanu PF’s indigenisation policy.
In his address, Chamisa implored the electorate to desist from voting for Zanu PF candidates, saying they no longer had anything new to offer after allegedly plundering the country’s wealth during their 32-year rule.
“You can’t entrust those people with another five years, people who believe diesel would come out of Chinhoyi rocks. They said we believe in n’angas, the country can’t move when people believe in that,” he said.
This was in reference to Zanu PF bigwigs who four years ago were misled by a bogus Chinhoyi n’anga Nomatter Tagarira, alias Rotina Mavhunga, into believing pure diesel was oozing out of Maninga Hills near Chinhoyi. The incident happened in 2007 when the country was facing an acute fuel shortage.
“They removed their shoes and almost their clothes believing diesel would come from a rock,” Chamisa said.
The Zanu PF delegation to Maninga Hills comprised of Didymus Mutasa (then National Security minister), Sydney Sekeramayi (ex-Defence minister), Kembo Mohadi (Home Affairs minister), former Mashonaland West governor Nelson Samkange, then Energy minister Retired Lieutenant-General Mike Nyambuya, Science and Technology minister Olivia Muchena and former Mines minister Amos Midzi.
