A GWERU woman sustained serious cuts on the head after she was hit with a bottle by a drunken man she had witnessed urinating outside a city night club.

Gweru magistrate Sithembinkosi Msipa heard that on October 20 at around 5am, the complainant Regina Magura of Ascot suburb, Gweru, was disembarking from a taxi near a night club in the city when she saw Tariro Takawira (27) urinating behind a tree.

Infuriated that he had been seen by the woman, Takawira allegedly started shouting at her questioning her motive. He reportedly approached Takawira grabbed her top and hit her on the forehead with an empty beer bottle. The complainant sustained three deep cuts after the assault. An eye witness, Trame Johnson, came to Magura’s rescue and assisted her make a report to the police.

Takawira will be sentenced tomorrow.
