Their close chasers and neighbours Hippo Valley were shocked 1-0 by Gaza Gunners in Chipinge. Triangle now has 61 points from 24 matches while Hippo lie second with 56 points from the same number of matches.

Tavaka Gumbo’s side Setheo continued to pile pressure on the leading pack after a 3-1 win against whipping boys Gaths Mine and occupy third position with 56 points from the same matches, but they have an inferior goal difference against Hippo. Triangle administrator Festus Dumbu believes that they are now closer to a Premiership dance for next year.

“Our chances of gaining promotion into the Premiership have increased after our chasers dropped points. However, we don’t want to sit back on our laurels, we want to take each game as it comes, possibly by collecting maximum points,” he said.

“We are not looking much at how other teams are playing. The good thing is that we are playing as a team and we are united for the one cause of bringing Premiership football to Chiredzi,” added Dumbu.
