Mashonaland West acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera yesterday confirmed the incident, adding investigations were in progress.

According to the police, on September 26 at around 11am, an unidentified accused from the same school followed the girl (6) to the toilet. He asked her to follow him to a bushy area where he pushed her to the ground and removed her panties before raping her once.

“Following the rape, accused ran away from the scene and left the girl, who later reported the matter to her teacher who advised her to go home and inform her mother. The girl was taken to Pfupajena Clinic where she was examined and advised to make a police report,” said Kohwera.

The complainant was referred to Chegutu District Hospital for further medical checks.
