The sungura ace stepped onto a loose plank on the stage prompting him to jump in trying to avoid falling. It took more than 30 minutes for the show to resume as stage managers battled to set up speakers that had fallen after the accident.

“It is fortunate that I managed to jump with the support of the speakers,” Macheso said.

“I am feeling the pain, but for the love of the job I have to get back to the stage, so I can satisfy the fans.” He later returned to the stage and finished off in style, as he belted out popular hits sending the crowd into frenzy.

Thousands of merrymakers, who thronged the venue, were not disappointed as they were treated to various activities with children enjoying joyrides in the new BMW police cars. Outside the venue hundreds of people were jostling to enter with long queues forming.

The event came alive in the afternoon with different artists taking turns to entertain partygoers.

Even the scorching sun did not deter the fun lovers who danced to the music.

The Police Band took to the stage first playing songs from various musicians leading the crowd to cheer.

Rising gospel artist Blessing Shumba did not disappoint, as he belted out songs from his previous albums leaving fans crying for more. Other artists who performed at the event included Nicholas Zakaria, who sampled some of his new songs, Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave, Stunner and Peter Moyo.
