KADOMA — War veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda has reportedly summoned all church leaders and their members to a political rally at the Anglican All Saints Hall in Kadoma today.

Report by Blessed Mhlanga

Several church leaders interviewed by NewsDay yesterday confirmed receiving the invitation letters dated September 26 and signed by one ES Zwambila, who claimed to be the district secretary-general of the Zimbabwe National LiberationWar Veterans Association in Kadoma.

Part of the letter reads: “You are cordially invited to attend our special meeting which will be addressed by Cde Jabulani Sibanda, our national chairman.”

The church leaders said they would attend the meeting out of fear. “We are going to attend the meeting basically because we have no choice. Sibanda’s reputation is that of unleashing violence and intimidation and we, therefore, don’t want to be victimised,” said a pastor who refused to be named. However, a Kadoma war veterans executive who identified herself as Tinashe Madzinga said the meeting was not political.

“We don’t know the agenda as yet because we stand guided by our chairman. Therefore, he will lead from the front. But I assure you that there will be no politics at the meeting,” Madzinga said.
