RENOWNED Bulawayo-based artists recently  took part in a fundraising concert aimed at assisting a six-month old baby to undergo an emergency operation in Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare.

Report by Sheryleen Masuku, Own correspondent

The concert, which was held under the theme “Love Gift” was organised by the Mpopoma – Phelandaba Development Association, a non-profit community organisation.

The proceeds will go towards baby Gift Ndlovu’s medical bill.  The baby is in urgent need of $500 in order to undergo an operation on her back at Parirenyatwa hospital.

Spokesperson for Mpopoma Development Association, Khumbulani Maphosa, said they were aiming at raising at least $500 for the operation.

The concert was attended by a number of artists including world acclaimed Iyasa, New Age, Bambelela Arts Ensemble, D.L.C, Pansula for Christ, Victory Arts, Conquerors, Triple T, among others. Maphosa expressed gratitude to all the artists who took part in the event.

“We would like to thank all the artists who performed here as they all came here and performed for free,” he said.

“Iyasa and Victory Arts are some of the groups that are quite expensive to hire as they also travel abroad and do international tours but they came here to support this worthy cause and we would like to thank them for that.”

A group of young upcoming Hip-hop artists DLC performed some of their songs much to the delight of the audience.

“We will be hosting a number of these entertainment events aimed at raising funds for Gift,” Maphosa said.

“We are kindly appealing to the community to come in their numbers to support us.”
