A senior Attorney-General (AG) representative stationed at Chinhoyi Magistrates Court, regional public prosecutor Admore Shekede, yesterday appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court charged with raping his 16-year-old maid.

Report by Senior Court Reporter Shekede (35) pleaded not guilty to the rape charge when he appeared before regional magistrate Adonia Masawi and was remanded out of custody to October 22 for trial.

The incident allegedly occurred on February 7 this year at Shekede’s residence in Chinhoyi.

Prosecutor Sidom Chinzete said on the day in question, Shekede arrived home and found the teenager ironing clothes in the dining room whereupon he asked her to sit close to him. Initially the teenager is alleged to have refused, but he continued pestering her until she complied.

It is alleged the law officer proposed love to the teenager, but she turned him down. He then grabbed and dragged her into his bedroom where he raped her twice.

The State alleges that after sexually abusing the teenager, Shekede ordered her out of his bedroom and she proceeded to the dining room where she realised she was bleeding. It is alleged the teenager took Shekede’s Dynamos flag and wiped off the oozing blood from her genitals.

The State alleges that the following morning the teenager informed her neighbour and showed her a blood-stained flag before she proceeded to report the matter to her uncle. The matter was later reported at Chinhoyi Central Police Station, leading to Shekede’s arrest.
