Defending champions Dynamos are set to unleash their latest acquisition Simba Sithole when they begin their title defence in the multi-million dollar Mbada Diamonds Cup with a first round collision against Quelaton at Rufaro Stadium. The match will be televised live on Supersport 9.

Report by Kevin Mapasure Sithole’s registration with the Harare giants was completed in time for the former Caps United attacker to gain eligibility for tomorrow’s match. He has been thrust into the final 18 in a squad that misses Cliff Sekete, Murape Murape, Derrick Kabwe, Milton Makopa and Arthur Kaseloki who are all sidelined through injury.

DeMbare is also set to unleash another of their junior products after Brian Chinhoyi was named in the squad.

But it is the news of Sithole’s inclusion that will delight Dynamos fans who have been waiting for him to make his debut.

Assistant coach Tonderai Ndiraya is excited by the prospect of introducing the talented attacker to the DeMbare faithfuls on Sunday.

“We have selected him in the squad for the match on Sunday (tomorrow), he has been exciting since he started training with us,” said Ndiraya. “He is going to add value to the team; he has got lots of energy; he is a clinical finisher; he is good in the air and he gets into scoring positions. He has got some of the attributes that we missed in some of the strikers.”

Sithole made his name in a short spell at Caps United where he raced to ten goals in the first 12 games of the season before his move to Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa last term. Dynamos fans have taunted their big rivals Caps United whom they beat to the former Pamushana High School student.

Dynamos, despite their dominance in the league matches over Quelaton, are expecting a tough encounter.

“This is a cup game. Quelaton are in danger of relegation in the league and it looks like they will be going down. They have had a poor season by any standards and this is one opportunity for them to atone for their failure or likely relegation. They will come out fighting, but we are ready for them and we will not be complacent.” DeMbare will look to their man-of-the-moment, Denver Mukamba, who usually possesses the team’s drive. Mukamba has been in top form this term and Quelaton will have to find ways to shackle him if they are to stand any chance of upsetting the favourites.
