Chimanimani will come alive tomorrow afternoon when the annual arts jamboree, Chimanimani Arts Festival roars to life.
The festival starts around midday with a traditional ceremony officiated by local chiefs.
Yesterday Chido Musasiwa Gutu, spokesperson of the festival, said preparations were on course. “I am already in Chimanimani monitoring some few touch-ups, but everything is on course,” said Musasiwa.
She expressed gratitude to their various sponsors that assisted the cause in both cash and kind. Last month, Musasiwa had indicated that sponsorship had been hard to come by.
“If it was not for our partners it would have been difficult. There is great energy in this place already and we owe all that to them.
“Without our various sponsors there really would have been no festival to talk about so I really need to thank Hivos, Culture Fund of Zimbabwe and African Distillers, among many others that have made this dream a reality.”
Musasiwa said the chief’s ceremony would see various traditional dance groups taking to the stage at the official opening.
On Saturday the festival will explode with performaces by Nicolas Zakaria, Barura Express, Chiwoniso Mararire, Dino Mudondo, Ba Shupi, among others, with DJs taking over for party overdrive after midnight.

On Sunday, the festival will open with various gospel acts like Argatha Murudzwa, ZCC, Roman Catholic Choir and Word of Faith, among others.
The same day will see upcoming artists like Josh Meck, Jusa Mupostori, Api T, Tehn Diamond and reggae outfit House of Stone, perform.
