Central Soccer League (CSL) pace setters Tripple B are chasing the signature of Hardbody striker Aleck Marime as they seek to bolster their squad to consolidate their championship quest.

Marime was on loan at Hardbody from FC Platinum, but has since been offloaded by the Zvishavane side and is now a free agent.

Tshintsha Magiya, who are at the summit of the CSL log with 32 points from 13 games, intended to bolster their attack which has so far scored 19 goals.

The Beitbridge side has a two-point advantage over second-placed Strikers FC and need to sharpen their strike force in the second half of the season which promises to be a dog-eat-dog affair.

If they manage to snatch Marime from Hardbody, it might deal a huge blow to the Gweru side who desperately want to keep their team intact as they resume their survival quest in the second half of the Premier Soccer League.

Tripple B coach Friday Phiri confirmed to NewsDay Sport their interest in the striker who made a name for himself in the 2010 Central Soccer League when he was turning out for Gweru Pirates.

“We would want to bolster our squad, particularly the strikeforce. Marime is one of our targets and I understand that the team directors have entered into negotiations with the player and his club. I am not in a position to say how far the negotiations have gone, but all I can confirm is that indeed, we are interested in the player,” Phiri said.

However, Hardbody spokesperson Wellington Ngulube professed ignorance of any negotiations with Tripple B over the striker. Ngulube said they had not been approached by Tripple B concerning their interest in Marime and neither had the striker shown any interest in leaving the club.

“We have not been approached by anyone concerning the striker. As far as we are concerned, Marime is at home with us and has not made any intentions of leaving the club,” said Ngulube.
