A 33-year-old Bulawayo man Leeroy Christopher Basil Pullen has been taken to court by his United Kingdom-based girlfriend after he allegedly stole her $1 500.
Pullen was not asked to plead to fraud charges when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sherperd Mnjanja on Monday.
The court heard that on June 14 2008, the complainant Linda Macdonald (47) — then the suspect’s girlfriend — left her Ford Laser car under the care of Pullen’s father as she went to the UK.
She later called and instructed her boyfriend’s father to sell the car and give the money to his son for safe-keeping.
However, Pullen got the money and converted it to his own use without the woman’s consent. On her return, the woman reported the matter to the police after Pullen failed to account for the money.
The court granted him $100 bail and remanded the matter to August 7 for trial.
