Rising dancehall sensation Emegy Chizanga, popularly known as Freeman, is set to travel to the United Kingdom in August for two shows.
He travels with Credence Tsurira aka Cally C, with whom he did the track Joina City and Jay C of the Dangerzone family.
The tour, dubbed “The Dangerzone UK Take-Over Tour”, will see Freeman — now affectionately known as the Dancehall Doctor by his fans — performing in Birmingham and London, on August 3 and 4 respectively. The three will also be joined by UK-based reggae artists Bingiman, Boyz Retonaz and Roby Gee, who are among the most famous Zimbabwean artists in the Diaspora, for the shows. This will be Freeman’s second tour this year after the South African tour hosted in March, where he performed in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town, with Stunner, Blush and Trinta. He has promised great performances during the tour.
“I am promising a lifetime performance since this will be my first time to perform in UK and I want to show what it means to perform on such a platform far away from home,” said Freeman. Cally C shared the same sentiments saying she was prepared to give her best performance at both shows.
“We are going there fully-charged and we promise a great show which will give people value for their money. We want to prove that we, as the Dangerzone family, can do it,” said Cally C.
Ossur Banda, who is the promoter of the show, said Freeman’s music had become popular with Zimbabweans living in the UK and many had been calling for a live performance by the musician.
