Champions Dynamos returned to winning ways when they thumped Black Mambas in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Dynamos played this match with the tough Caf Champions League match against Tunisia Esperance on Saturday occupying part of their minds and if they needed motivation for that one, their performance yesterday certainly provided it.

It was another Takesure Chinyama super story yesterday after the DeMbare attacker made two assists and scored one goal to set up the Harare giants on a victory path.

He, however, squandered two glorious opportunities after yet another man-of-the-match performance for the in-form striker setting up Denver Mukamba and double scorer Rodrick Mutuma in the first half before scoring his own in the second.

Mambas defender Kasimero Chimbadzwa had halved the deficit from the penalty spot when Dynamos were leading 2-0.

Dynamos started the match with purpose and conviction pinning their opponents in their own half. As early as the sixth minute, Chinyama found Mukamba with a cross for the latter to score the opening goal after which he ran straight to his coach Calisto Pasuwa to share the celebration.

Mambas struggled to free themselves from the defensive shackles with the Dynamos midfield duo of Misheck Makopa and Tawanda Muparati seizing control.

On the other side, captain Convenience Hungwe tried hard to control things in the midfield, but he fought a lone battle with strikers John Zhuwawo and Tsepo Rantokoane starved up front.

Chinyama could have doubled the lead, but he failed to convert after some good work by Mutuma on the left side early.

The two then swapped roles with Chinyama turning provider, and Mutuma made no mistake with the simplest of tasks after the former had floored defender Kumbirayi Kapikinyu with some fancy footwork on 21 minutes.

Moments later Makopa threatened Learnmore Jeres goal with a 25-metre power drive which narrowly missed the target.

Mambas first chance arrived only 15 minutes before the break, but after receiving a cross from the right Rantokoane failed to beat Washington Arubi in goals for Dynamos.

The same player forced yet another Arubi save as Mambas tried to come to life.

Dynamos came close once again when the ball moved swiftly between Ocean Mushure and Mukamba to the benefit of Chinyama whose power-packed shot crashed against the cross bar on 45 minutes. The half-time whistle rescued Mambas at that stage as Dynamos threatened to run riot.

After the breather, Mambas returned a much improved lot as they moved the ball better and asked questions of the Dynamos defence.

Ten minutes into it, the police side was awarded a penalty kick after David Kutyauripo felled Nicholas Alifandika in the box.

Kasimero sent Arubi the wrong way and it really looked like Mambas were on their way back, but that was not to be.
