Zimbabwean Bench Rest Rifle shooters acquitted themselves very well against a tough field and unstable weather conditions in the South African national championships.

Out of 12 teams competing in the Varmint Team event, the Zimbabwe International Bench Rest Association squad finished 4th overall, with Cleveland Pistol Club shooters Roscoe Dickinson, Steve Watkins, Duncan Frost and Jason Frost taking 6th, 13th, 18th and 22nd positions.

In the Group event, both Dickinson and Watkins finished in the top ten individual rankings.

Shooting is a sport in Zimbabwe that encourages junior participation, and the various disciplines all have junior development programmes in place.

Zimbabwe juniors Shaye Frost, Michael and Brian Naested competed in the PCP Air Rifle and .22 Rifle divisions, and Shaye Frost finished as top junior overall, competing against South Africas best junior shooters.

The Zimbabwe International Bench Rest Association will be hosting the 4th African Regional Championships at Cleveland Pistol Club in Harare from August 22 to 25.
