Police launch hunt for ‘female rapist’

-

Police in Mashonaland West have launched a manhunt for a suspected female rapist who allegedly sexually molested a 39-year-old Karoi man last Friday.

The suspected rapist, who was accompanied by two males, also stole $30 from the complainant.

Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara, confirmed the incident that occurred at around 1am at the 5km peg along the Maunga-Karoi Road.

Mabgweazara said the complainant was offered a lift in an unmarked maroon Ipsum by the trio from Karoi town to Chiedza high-density suburb.

“The suspects drove towards Harare and turned into Maunga Road, then passed through Hwata turn-off and headed towards Chiedza. They drove for about five kilometres before stopping. The two male suspects ordered the complainant to have sex with the woman inside the vehicle. The complainant refused but was threatened with death. He complied and had sex with the woman once without using a condom,” said Mabgweazara.

After the attack, the trio allegedly robbed the victim of $30 and sped off towards Karoi.

The unidentified man later reported the matter at Karoi Police Station.

In an unrelated incident, a 55-year-old Binga man, Chamunorwa Mubaya, was robbed of $1 800 by unidentified criminals at Hunyani River bridge along the Harare-Chirundu Road over the weekend.

Mubaya of Negande village, Chief Mola in Binga, boarded a lift in Chinhoyi intending to travel to Harare together with five other persons.

As they approached the Hunyani River bridge, the other passengers turned on Mubaya, robbed and pushed him out of the vehicle, before speeding off towards Harare.
