French music group the Mederic Collignon and Jus de Bocse quartet will on March 30 present an enlivening concert scheduled at Alliance Française in Harare.

“It is a must-attend show for all those who are jazz fanatics and are willing to be intrigued and released to experience ‘funkified’ jazz with a twist,” said Alliance FranÇaise cultural and communications officer, Nelly Mukwembu

The opening act will be from upcoming local jazz artist Vee Mukarati.

Mukwembi said what was striking about the show presentation of conventional jazz in an unconventional style and Collignon was rated as the most talented French jazz musician.

She said he had a unique voice, one which none could emulate.

“His unique, exclusive and extraordinary shouting and deliberate trashy bouts and gusto, captivates and satiates one’s listening pleasure.

“His technique and mastery is beyond the capability to play an instrument and he has a band backing him a power trio (named Jus de Bocse) which is a big band.”

Collignon’s music has been influenced by various genres including funk, hard rock, jazz rock and the music of Olivier Messiaen.

He won the prize of revelation in 2007 and also won first prize in musical theory at the End of Curriculum for the trumpet.
