ABUJA — The head coach of Nigeria Under-20 women’s football team, Edwin Okon, has said the Falconets will defeat Zimbabwe when they meet at the end of the month.

Coach Okon said this while speaking with Daily Trust after the team’s training at the Abuja National Stadium on Tuesday.

He said “I can assure Nigerians we will defeat our opponents when we meet.”

The former Rivers Angels’ Head Coach added: “My girls are in good shape as you can see. We are just putting finishing touches to our plans.”

The Falconets are billed to tackle Zimbabwe in the Fifa Under-20 World Cup qualifier with the first leg scheduled to take place at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on March 31.

The World Cup will take place in Japan from August 18 to September 9 with 16 national teams and mark the first hosting of a Fifa women’s football tournament in the country.
