KADOMA — A beer drinking spree that spilled into the early hours of the morning turned nasty for a 24-year-old woman who was allegedly trailed and raped by a fellow reveller.

Magistrate Elisha Singano on Monday heard that on February 13, the accused Joseph Purazi (27) of Village 13, Bumbe resettlements and the complainant were at Bumbe business centre drinking beer.

The court heard that at around 3am, the complainant left the beerhall and started walking home alone.

The accused allegedly followed her and at a secluded place, tripped her to the ground before raping her.

Purazi was allegedly caught red-handed committing the crime by Rodreck Edmore Jaure, who is a member of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee, who then arrested him.

He was remanded in custody to March 27 and advised to apply for bail at the High Court. Nation Tshile-Nleya prosecuted.
