Founders High School have won the ticket to represent Bulawayo Metropolitan Province in the National Top Schools Basketball tournament after beating Nkulumane 93-76 in the final of the National Association of Secondary Heads boys qualifiers at the weekend.

The Under-20 qualifiers were held at the Bulawayo Club for the Disabled and the national finals take place in September.

Founders beat Milton 51-8 in their first encounter and narrowly won 36-31 against Christian Brothers College (CBC) before they beat Northlea 57-35 to qualify for the semi-finals from Group B.

Runners-up Nkulumane started off their campaign by beating Gifford 43-29 and routed Sizane 94-14 in their next encounter in Group A.

Ihlathi became third victims losing 74-16 before Nkulumane wrapped up their group stages campaign winning 76-20 against St Columbus.

In the semi-finals, Nkulumane beat CBC 65-49 while Founders beat Ihlathi 56-30.

CBC claimed third spot after they beat Ihlathi 54-27 in the third and fourth playoffs.

The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament award went to Wazawaka Phiri of Founders.

The experience of Shadel Noble (Founders), who turns out for Southern Region basketball League team Oilers paid off as he scooped the Top Goalscorer Award after grabbing 116 points in the tournament.

Southern Region basketball players Porstion Mafuta and Noah Penduka of Nkulumane, who play for Stars had a good tournament as well, collecting 101 and 88 points respectively.
