Zanu PF Manicaland provincial chairman Mike Madiro has admitted the party had roped in the Obediah Musindo-led Destiny for Afrika Network to spearhead its election campaign by doling out 100 000 residential stands countrywide.

“We are giving out stands to you people because we realised that MDC-T- dominated councils are doing nothing for you in terms of shelter,” said Madiro.

“However, when the President (Robert Mugabe) calls for elections, by that date every member of this housing scheme should be registered to vote. Every beneficiary of this scheme should vote for Zanu PF and betrayers will be kicked out from here. You can’t benefit when you don’t want to vote for us,” he said to hundreds of home seekers in Mutare over the weekend.

Zanu PF central committee member Esau Mupfumi added: “Zanu PF realised that people are not getting housing stands in urban areas and Destiny for Afrika Network was given State land to develop so that we give out housing stands to our supporters.

“We don’t need to remind you that on election day you need to vote for Zanu PF. Voting for MDC when you are a beneficiary of this scheme is inviting trouble because we will not hesitate to move you out.”

Destiny for Afrika founder Musindo joined the tirade, urging non-Zanu PF supporters to stay out of the housing scheme.

“Those who don’t want Zanu PF are not going to benefit in any of our projects,’ said Musindo. “We have houses for Christians, but they should support Zanu PF first and I am not apologetic for that. They should know that this is possible because of Zanu PF.”

Of late Zanu PF officials have roped in church leaders to join their party’s campaign team with Mugabe, Vice-President Joice Mujuru, party political commissar Webster Shamu and Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo targeting church gatherings.
