Miss Zim leaves for international pageant

Reigning Miss Zimbabwe, Malaika Mushandu, on Wednesday left the country for Dortmund, Germany, where she will represent the country at the Miss Top Model of the World beauty pageant slated for March 10.

She will join 50 other beauties from different continents. This will be her second international pageant after representing Zimbabwe at the 2011 Miss World contest which was held in England last year.

Mushandu will vie for the most coveted title at the 19th Top Model of the World pageant.

Last year, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe (2009), Vanessa Gayle Sibanda, was crowned second runner-up at the pageant while Loredana Salanta from Romania was the queen.

Mushandu said she was well-prepared for the pageant.
“I’ve done everything in my capacity to ensure I represent Zimbabwe with flying colours. I am ready for the pageant and I hope to bring something home this time,” said Mushandu.

“Vanessa paved the way and showed that it was possible to win an international pageant, therefore, I am going to put all my effort on the ramp. I take this as a second chance after contesting at Miss World. I now have the international experience.”

Mushandu thanked Zimbabweans for supporting her when she represented the country at the Miss World pageant. She will return from Germany on March 13.
While in camp, the models will undergo various photo shoots, have fast-track events and visit several cities in Germany.

The Top Model of the World pageant is an international search for models that are talented and fashion-conscious.
