NORTON Seven cheeky armed robbers on Sunday night pounced on a Norton family and robbed it of property worth over $4 000.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident and said the suspects were still at large.

The robbers broke the kitchen door to gain entry and ordered the family to lie down before covering them with blankets, said Mabgweazara, adding the assailants then ransacked the house and stole two laptops, an invertor, seven Nokia cellphones, groceries and $500 cash.

Mabgweazara said the men were armed with a pistol, knobkerries, golf and hockey sticks. The armed robbers reportedly threatened to rape the property owner, Violet Ruzive (35), before fleeing the scene in a getaway car.
