OGs, who had just received a shot in the arm after securing a sponsorship deal with National Foods through their Red Seal brand, clinched the three-legged series 2-1.

OGs player/coach Grant Mitchell was delighted with his teams victory.

It was the perfect final between two quality squads that deserved to be in the final and played their hearts out throughout the 20 minutes. In the end we managed to have that extra energy to push for the win. We had spoken before the game about discipline, work rate and accuracy and we stuck to our game plan and achieved our goals. I want to congratulate the guys for coming back strongly in the game after a shaky start, said Mitchell.

England-based livewire winger Justin Coles, who is in the country for this weekends Spar International 7s tournament, proved to be the difference between the two teams with a hat-trick of tries.

The former St Johns College headboy, who is now on a rugby scholarship at Hartpury College, broke the hearts of Harare Sports Club following a brilliant start in which they had taken the lead through a breakaway try by skipper Danny Hondo.

OGs had booked a place in the final with a victory over newly-formed Matabeleland Warriers, which is a merger of Old Miltonians and Busters while Harare Sports Club had defeated Gweru Sports Club 21-5.

Hondo drew first blood after being fed by Eddie Manyere on the right flank before bursting through the OGs defence to plant the ball under the posts.

Tangai Nemadire slotted home the conversion, but their lead was short-lived as Coles crossed over for a converted try to leave the scores tied at seven apiece.

In a period of dominance by OGs, the gangly Fortune Chipendu surged forward for another converted try which was followed by yet another try straight from the restart by Coles.

The lively Stephen Hunduza gave the home side some hope with a mazy run before feeding Nemadire for a breakaway try in the dying minutes of the match before Coles drilled the last nail in HSC with yet another try right at the death.
