City Sports Bar will today open the year with a difference with a show dubbed Mafarochete January Beer Festival.

The show will certainly see Harare merrymakers relive the memories of their merry-making during the just-ended festive season.

Speaking in an interview with NewsDay this week, Biggie Chinoperekwei, proprietor of the bar, said the event was a trial run for bigger projects they want to launch.

It is something new that we will be introducing, said Chinoperekwei.

Of course the major reason is to give back to our clientele whose pockets have been ailing from the January disease and we will be giving away over 10 crates of free beers.

Chinoperekwei said the show would be hosted by DJs who will be conducting various fun competitions and giving away the beer.

We want to play very simple games so that revellers find it easy to win the beer. If the games are tricky, it becomes difficult to win the beer which would be against the whole idea, he said.

City Sports Bar has been a favourite for a number of significant beer drinkers in the central business district.

Despite its setting, which is normally shunned by up-market drinkers, the proprietors have managed to raise the standards.
