The two MDC parties have attacked Zanu PF for allegedly taking over Sherwood Block near Kwekwe, describing the action as exhibiting the former ruling partys corrupt tendencies.

Zanu PF has taken over the rich gold claims. Several Kwekwe residents last week queued at the Zanu PF district offices to buy party cards to gain access to the gold claims.

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirais MDC-T said the move by Zanu PF confirmed how corrupt the former ruling party was while the Welshman Ncube-led MDC said the breakdown of rule of law that was manifested in Chiadzwa was imminent in Kwekwe.

This is another manifestation that Zanu PF is a party that believes in grabbing and privatising national resources.

People must resist and police must intervene to stop corruption. People should not use Zanu PF cards to get access to the countrys resources, it is just not proper. Things have to be done in a proper manner for all to benefit, MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora said.

MDC deputy spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi said the latest development was a sign of Zanu PFs greed and should be stopped forthwith.

It shows Zanu PF is not honest, but they are very dirty. The stampede shows they take the project as a Zanu PF project whereas its supposed to be under the auspices of the Ministry of Mines. Its a party of criminals, lawlessness that does not take the country forward, Chihwayi said.

The discovery of gold deposits recently in Kwekwe has seen Zanu PF provincial bigwigs claiming ownership.

Zanu PF provincial security officer Owen Mudha Ncube said: Only the sons of Midlands will be allowed to enter the fields and they will do so through party structures.

Those that are not known within the party will not have access and those from outside the Midlands will not be allowed here.
