President Robert Mugabe left for the inauguration of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Joseph Kabila, who last week won the country’s presidential election.

Kabila was declared the winner after receiving 48,95% of the vote.

Media, Information and Publicity minister Webster Shamu confirmed President Mugabe had left the country for Kabila’s inauguration, but is expected back in the country today.

“Yes, President Mugabe left today (yesterday) for the inauguration of President Joseph Kabila who won the election and the ceremony is tomorrow (today). He will be back when they are done tomorrow (today),” said Shamu.

Vice-President Joice Mujuru is the acting President.
