JOHANNESBURG — Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya says the big FNB Stadium pitch will help his side in their clash with Free State Stars on Saturday.

Stars are the surprise package of this season having risen to third in the Absa Premiership table, above Chiefs on goal difference.

Their success has largely been built on a solid defence and hardworking midfield, but that will be stretched to the limit on the wide open spaces of the national stadium.

Zvasiya says the extra room should give Chiefs’ attackers more space to operate and tire out the opposition.

He says the team is also still on a high after their win over Mamelodi Sundowns last time out, but that they understand the danger in Stars.

“That game is over — done and dusted. I am fully focused on the upcoming game against Free State Stars. The focus of the whole team is on Free State Stars,” Zvasiya told the club’s official website.

“I have watched Free State Stars and like any side in the PSL (Premier Soccer League) they will not be pushovers.

We are focused on our objective though which is to get maximum points in our last two games, but we will have to start with Free State Stars.

It (FNB Stadium) is the most beautiful stadium in the country. The pitch is big and I am looking forward to playing at FNB if I get the nod to start on Saturday.

We have all been working hard ahead of this game. It is a very important game for us and I am sure for the supporters as well. We will be going all out to win it.”
