Gospel a cappella music group, the Conquerors 7 will launch their debut album, Ngcwele, this Saturday at the Academy of Music.

Group manager Gerald Makambaya yesterday said those who would attend the concert on Saturday evening at the academy’s Robert Sibson Hall “would be blessed by our music”.

“We will put on an uplifting concert,” said Makambaya. He said as part of the show, there would also a band playing instruments for the group.

He said Conquerors 7’s music is that of hope and people should always take life’s challenges head-on. Although formed in 1992, most members of the original group left and are now based in Durban, South Africa.

“I am the only founder member who remained in Zimbabwe,” said Makambaya. “I then decided to revive the group in 2005.”

They have since recorded two live DVDs. The first one was entitled More Than Conquerors while the second, released in 2008 is called Silver and Gold. Makambaya said the seven-member all- male group is composed of “young people who want to serve the Lord”.

Ngcwele is composed of 10 tracks which Makambaya said are a reflection of “how good the Lord is and aimed at a diverse audience”.

They have tracks in English, Shona, Zulu and Ndebele.

Some of the songs to look forward to on the album which they will also perform on Saturday include Zunde, Tambura Makashu, Come to The Lord, Old Rugged Cross and Ayikho Indlela.

Makambaya said they would also feature veteran gospel musician Eric Moyo during the launch with whom they will sing the song, Go Home.
