BATTLEFIELDS — An illegal gold panner was last week arraigned before magistrate Remigius Jemwa facing rape charges after he allegedly raped his two daughters, aged 13 and 15, on numerous occasions before threatening to kill them if they reported the sexual abuse.

It is the State case that on unknown dates — but in October this year at Gambagamba Mine, Battlefields near Kadoma — the 35-year-old accused (name withheld) entered the house in which the two girls were sleeping.

He allegedly forced himself on each of the victims once.

The court also heard that during the same month, but on an unknown date at around 1900hrs, the accused lured the victims to his garden where he ordered the girls to remove their pants and ordered them to lie down before raping them one after the other.

It was not stated in the court papers how the matter came to light. A medical report compiled by a medical doctor revealed penetration and can be produced in court as exhibit.

The accused was remanded in custody to December 2. Charles Muchemwa prosecuted.
