Information Communication Technology minister Nelson Chamisa last week handed over 42 computers to Dzivarasekwa High School in Harare as part of the ministry’s schools’ computerisation programme.

Chamisa, who doubles up as MDC-T national organising secretary, said his ministry‘s goal was to computerise all schools by 2015.

“By 2015, all citizens should be computer-literate and have projectors, and teachers should be empowered to know more of computers than students,” Chamisa said.

“Gone are the days when people used to pay lobola in the form of cattle and nowadays we will begin to see people paying lobola online,’’ he said.

Chamisa said availability of information technologies will lead to the opening of other doors of success in the community and internationally. “All blackboards, chalk and dusters will be in the museums come 2015’’, he said.

“Every class and every child should be computer literate and have their own computers in class as well.”
