Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego will play for Mashonaland Eagles during the thrd edit/on of S.anbic T3enty20 `T20) coqpetition later lhis month.

“This is value addition to the squad. No one doubts his capabilities as he exhibited what he can offer in the just-ended Champions league T20.

He has done well for Somerset and nothing can stop him to do so for Eagles,” Joseph Madyembwa the Mashonaland Eagles team manager told NewsDay Sport yesterday.

Eagles, who Trego’s Somerset teammate Nick Compton played for last year, also have Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown and Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate in their ranks.

“Rory Hamilton-Brown, Ryan ten Doeschate and myself are all off to Zimbabwe to play in their domestic T20 as the overseas players for Mashonaland Eagles in Harare — the team Nick Compton played for last year,” he explained.

“My performances for Somerset in the Champions League have obviously been noticed and this is a very good opportunity for me to further learn my role as opening bat or number three in what looks to be a much improved competition,” Trego told Somerset’s website.
