The Zimbabwe women’s cricket team, which has been in camp over the last few weeks, leaves the country for Bangladesh on Friday where they will take part in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup Qualifiers which start on Monday.

Zimbabwe, who have never qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup are in Group A with South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and the United States.

Group B comprises hosts Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland and Japan and the top two teams from both groups qualify for the finals in India in 2013.

Zimbabwe, who will be captained by 19-year-old all-rounder Sharne Mayers open their campaign on Monday with a tricky tie against the Netherlands at the Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground in Savar.
