A Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) supervisor was last week fined $300 for negligent driving and injuring three people following a head-on collision along the Bulawayo Victoria Falls Road.

Miriam Chabata (38), who was driving a Zimra vehicle, attempted to overtake a bus in front of her, resulting in a collision with an oncoming car driven by Matthew Mutavai.

The accident occurred on August 9 this year at the 209km peg. Mutavai and two passengers travelling with him were seriously injured.

Chabata pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared before Lupane magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba last Wednesday. She was fined $300 or alternatively 30 days in jail.

She was represented by Coghlan and Welsh legal practitioners.

Sanders Sibanda appeared for the State.
