The desire to succeed never fades away for Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha, who begins yet another familiar route this weekend when the Telkom Knockout Cup gets rolling with AmaKhosi making the road trip to Royal Bafokeng for the first round affair.

Just two months shy of completing a decade at Chiefs, Nengomasha now stands as arguably the most successful player in the PSL with a winner’s medal through each of the years that he has spent at Amakhosi.

And as a tie against Platinum Stars looms on Sunday afternoon, the Zimbabwe international still shows the ambition of a teenager, just as much as he plays with a heart of a lion.

“We want to play well and will use all our strength to win this game,” he said looking up to a fixture that they have traditionally won in the short history of the league cup under the Telkom brand name.

Though he fights like a tiger on the field, there is still every sense of respect for all the opponents that he comes up against – Stars included.

“We know that they will be coming out hard for a win in this game, but with us we are all fighting for a place in the team at training and we have no injury worries.

This being a cup game, we are aware of the need to make it count which means we have to win to proceed.

“We have no other option but to win so we have to do the business on Sunday in Rustenburg,” said Nengomasha in a war cry that is definite to get his troops motivated for the game on Sunday where he is likely to wear the armband again.

With Chiefs being the cup specialists, the prospects of Nengomasha improving on his record of having already played in the most cup finals at Chiefs looks certain if not definite this season.
