Gospel music outfit Sound of Inspiration will perform at this year’s edition of Intwasa Arts Festival, the group’s executive producer Asaph Kudita said.

Kudita told NewsDay on Wednesday that the group would perform on Saturday next week at the Rainbow Elite 400.

“Our show is set for the evening of that Saturday (24 September),” said Kudita. “The director of Intwasa Arts Festival (Raisedon Baya) approached us with a view to have us perform.”

The group sings contemporary gospel music. Kudita said on the night, Sound of Inspiration will deliver some of their best songs in English, Ndebele and Shona.

“We will perform some popular worship songs that people sing at church and our original compositions,” said Kudita, who also composes music for the group.

Most members of Sound of Inspiration are veteran gospel musicians and from time to time, compose their own songs.

The group is composed of Eric Moyo (acoustic guitar), Thabo Mlotshwa (piano and vocals), Velaphi Gumbo (keyboard and vocals), Mthabisi Ndlovu (piano) and Kudita, who plays the acoustic guitar as well.

Kudita said the group was formed with the belief the power of gospel music to change lives.

“The initiative came about as recognition of gospel music’s ability to touch the soul and transmit the life-affirming message of salvation in Christ. Gospel music has the power to transform people’s lives,” he said.

The group’s performance will last for an hour.

“We would like to have a seamless show and just let the music speak. Female singers known as The Trio will provide backing vocals.”
