Zimbabwe once again flattered to deceive in their search for a consolation victory as Pakistan completed a whitewash 3-0 One-Day International cricket series win after they lost the dead rubber match by 28 runs at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe who had gone into the match searching for a consolation victory, could only manage to reach 242 runs for nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs while chasing 271 for victory.

Pakistan seamer Aizaz Cheema, who was duly named the man-of-the-match, was the pick of the bowlers for the tourists with four wickets for 43 in 10 overs.

Zimbabwe won the toss and sent Pakistan to bat hoping to capitalise on the overcast early morning conditions at the match venue.

Veteran Younis Khan, who was named the man-of-the-series, showed his class as he top scored for the tourists with a fluent 81 from 90 balls in a knock that included six fours and a six while Asad Shafiq chipped in with 51 runs.

Zimbabwe got their run chase off to a steady start with Vusi Sibanda (59) and Chamu Chibhabha (62) sharing a first wicket partnership stand of 110 runs.

However, like what has become the norm, they went on to lose the wickets of Sibanda, skipper Brendan Taylor (6) and Chibhabha for just 33 runs.

Sibanda cracked five fours and a six before he was caught by Umar Akmal while needlessly attempting to clear long-on off the bowling of Yasir Shah.

Taylor was caught behind from the bowling of Aizaz Cheema before a fourth wicket partnership stand of 43 runs between Hamilton Masakadza (21) and Tatenda Taibu (27) gave Zimbabwe some hope before Pakistan claimed victory.
