Kaizer Chiefs received good news ahead of the MTN8 Final against Orlando Pirates on Saturday following the issuing of work permits for recent Zimbabwean signings Willard Katsande and Lincoln Zvasiya.

Katsande and Zvasiya both signed for Chiefs on three-year contracts three weeks ago from Ajax Cape Town and FC Platinum (Zimbabwe) respectively.

Amakhosi fans are yet to see the club’s latest acquisitions in action as they were awaiting the issuing of their work permits from the Department of Home Affairs.

However, in the build-up to the Soweto Derby this week, Katsande and Zvasiya have been handed the licences that avails them for selection this

weekend though chances of both starting are slim. The club has confirmed that the duo now have their papers.

Katsande, a midfielder with as much ability defending as he does attacking as proven in the two goals that he has scored in Zimbabwe’s last two matches – will widen the options in central midfield where Chiefs have been forced to use Lucky Baloyi as a partner to Tinashe Nengomasha in the absence of Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Though he started a mere five games and came on as a substitute a further 11 times at Ajax last season, Katsande brought an intense competitive edge in his game.

Zvasiya is a lanky central defender who is comfortable on the ball and blessed with the ability of neutralising any opposition danger man when the need arises.
