Forgotten Chapungu striker Philip Marufu could land himself in trouble after a bust-up with a Hardbody fan at Ascot Stadium last Saturday.

The fracas occured during a Zifa Central Soccer League match between the two teams which ended one-all.

Marufu performed a latter-day version of an Erick Cantona strike when he charged towards the fan and went on to slap him in the face before some Chapungu supporters joined in and assaulted the fan.

The striker came on as a second-half substitute only to last 28 minutes on the field before he was sent off for an early shower for a second bookable offence.

As he made his way to the dressing rooms, a Hardbody fan in the VIP enclosure mocked the former Dynamos and FC Lupopo striker who was enraged by the taunting, prompting him to go for the poor fan.

The ugly incident occurred merely five metres from where Central Region chairman Patrick Hokonya was sitting.

The matter will be heard by the disciplinary committee and Marufu is likely to face a heavy penalty.
