The annual Kuwadzana MP’s FA Cup has recorded its first major success since its inception when one of its recipients, 11-year-old Simon Solobala was chosen to go for trials in Italy.

Solobala was selected by AC Milan technical director of junior football Fabrizio Bobbiesi who was in the country on a talent scouting mission last week.

He is expected to go to the European country to start trials with the former European giants’ academy in October.

The MP’s FA Cup was an initiative of the Member of Parliament for Kuwadzana constituency Nelson Chamisa.

Eleven other players from Kuwadzana were also selected to participate in the intercontinental games to be held in Italy later this year.

The players are Calisto Mudzana, Delant Mugomo, Melusi Ndlovu, Diago Makurumidze, Japhet Makwarimba, Munashe Kufakwedekwe, Panashe Zombe, Shonhayi Chakanetsa, Stanley Mhare, Trust Sithole and Ago Mujoma.

Speaking at a Press conferednce at his offices yesterday, Chamisa said he was impressed with the success of his tournament so far.

“The initiative is meant to nurture talent and curb indecent behaviour because of idleness. It’s meant to identify talent and nurture it and use sport to unite youths in Kuwadzana,” said Chamisa who is patron of the club.

This year’s FA cup tournament will be held at Kuwadzana 6 Holland ground on Saturday.
