On August 10 2010, Sithole allegedly secured an unspecified amount of money as a loan from the Small Enterprises Development Corporation (Sedco) and used the house as collateral without the latter’s knowledge and consent.

Zapu’s national youth chairperson, Tichaona Revai Sithole, was hauled before the courts on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (TUZ) president Lovemore Mufamba of a house worth $22 000.

Masvingo magistrate Oliver Mudzongachiso remanded Sithole, the director of a local estate agency, National Property Developers, out of custody to August 26.

Prosecutor Mirirai Shumba told the court that in November 2009, Sithole sold a house in Mucheke high-density suburb to Mufamba and an agreement of sale was signed.

Sithole, according to the State, went on to charge for the cession of the same property.

On August 10 2010, Sithole allegedly secured an unspecified amount of money as a loan from Small Enterprises Development Corporation (Sedco) and used the house as collateral without the latter’s knowledge and consent.

Shumba told the court Sithole failed to repay the loan and Sedco attached the house for resale to recoup the debt.

The matter came to light in April this year when Mufamba discovered the offence after the house he had bought from Sithole was advertised for sale in the local Press.

The house was eventually sold. Mufamba reported the matter to police, leading to Sithole’s arrest.
