JOHANNESBURG — Laduma can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs have penned a deal with Zimbabwean international Lincoln Zvasiya.

The 21-year-old central defender had been attending a trial at Naturena to give coach Vladimir Vermezovic and his technical team an opportunity to have a closer look at him.

Zvasiya signed from Zimbabwean club FC Platinum after having developed his game at the Aces Youth Soccer Academy, the same youth structure that former Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona attended.

According to a Soccer-Laduma source close to the player, Musona recommended the defender to Naturena.

The terms of Zvasiya’s contract are not yet known but the announcement of the signing is imminent. Chiefs have also snatched Zimbabwean midfielder Willard Katsande from Ajax Cape Town just days after Bobby Motaung and Ace Khuse travelled to watch the Warriors midfielder in action for his homeland last week.

Katsande’s agent Edzai Kasinauyo was entering Naturena this morning to conclude the deal for the 24 year-old, which will be on a three-year contract. Katsande has also flown into Johannesburg from Cape Town for medicals so that he completes the move after Chiefs paid Ajax about R1-million.

The versatile midfielder, at home in holding role or attacking, might make his debut on Wednesday night in the Soweto derby clash against Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium.

Despite starting a mere five games and coming on as a substitute in a further 11 games, Katsande appears to have made enough of an impression to make his move to Chiefs.

When Motaung and Khuse were in Harare last week to watch Zimbabwe against Zambia in an international friendly, Katsande put up a Man of the Match showing, scoring the first as the Warriors won 2-0.

Chiefs had apparently been also tracking Justice Majabvi, who has been training with the club prior to signing Katsande, while there was also interred in France based winger Ovidy Karuru.

Zimbabwe youth international defender Lincoln Zvasiya remains another target for Chiefs and will continue training with the club this week.

Prior to joining Ajax at the beginning of last season, Katsande played for Highway and Gunners back in his native.
