Kudzai Chipadza aka Riddim King together with other United Kingdom-based Zimbabweans will this month host the “Represent Your Endz Family Fun Day”, an event set to raise money for Felly Orphanage.

The orphanage, which is in Mbare, looks after Aids orphans aged between one and six years. The orphanage is run by Aletta Chipadza and her nephew Kumbirai Chipadza who are based in Harare.

“We operate a hot soup kitchen where orphans from the area come and eat and we also source donors who pay school fees for them, but ultimately they stay with their relatives,” said Kumbirai.

Riddim King is a well-known music promoter and has been successfully fundraising for the orphanage together with other UK-based Zimbabweans for the past three years.

Riddim King said they had also been receiving unwavering support from Stanbic Bank in past shows, like the Johns Afro Art Gala.

“Our first event will be the handing over of a donation that will be coming from well-wishers in Coventry and Copsewood Rugby football clubs and then the Felly Orphanage football tournament whose proceedings will go to the orphanage,” said Riddim King.

He said six teams would play in the one-day tournament.

He said the second event would be a live music show that includes aspiring talented musicians and dancers chosen by a team of DJs.

“We will also have performances by some of the hottest UK-based Zimbabwean musicians like Decibel, Robby G and Tukiso Manonga amongst others,” said Riddim King.

Locally-based musicians King Shaddy, Stunner and Trevor Dongo will travel to the UK for the gig. Riddim King said other up-and -coming artistes set to perform in the fun-filled event include Boyz Re Tonaz, Tu Short, Killa Joe, Lyfe Martinez, Silva, Yung Ghetto and Icey. A number of dance groups will also take part at the show.

Riddim King said people would get a chance to listen and dance to their favourite music by the day’s music selectors, DJs Candyman, Kols and Young Blud.

“The BBQ and food on sale will be supplied by Global Oasis Catering whose proceedings will also go to Felly Orphanage,” he said.

Riddim King said despite the distance he felt the need to make sure that the less privileged children back in his motherland deserved to be thought of and taken care of.

He said he would continue hosting such events annually.
