Former Caps United coach Moses “Bambo” Chunga, who resigned in a huff last week following a string of poor results, has resurfaced at struggling Gunners.

The team’s brand and communications manager Obert Chunga on Tuesday confirmed the new appointment at his club.

Bambo will take over from Darlington Dodo who has been relegated to the post of assistant coach, and has been linked with South Africa’s First National Division team Dynamos.

“Yes he (Chunga) has signed a contract with us which will run until the end of the season and renewable depending on performance,” said Chunga.

“It’s more of a mutual understanding, we want him to rescue our club from the murky waters we are in at the moment. We are more than confident that he is capable of doing it. He is one of the best coaches in the country and has done it before, so we are sure he can do it again this time around,” added Chunga.

The nomadic coach will return to the club he took charge of when it gained promotion in 2008 from Division One.

He guided it to its Premiership League glory at the end of 2009, giving him a chance to make an appearance in the Caf Champions League.

He left the club under a cloud after a reported clash with the Gunners management.

After the fall-out with the management, the outspoken coach was quoted in the Press saying: “The problem is that some people want to treat me like trash, I’m not stupid. The truth shall set me free. I’m not a condom that you can just buy and use then throw away.”

Bambo’s immediate task will be to rescue the club which is dicing with relegation after a disappointing start to the season.

“Chando Kupisa”, as Gunners are affectionately known, are second from the bottom with 12 points from 14 matches.

They have won only twice, drawn six and lost six matches.
