Dynamic Afro jazz and ragga-manyika outfit, Too Open, will Sunday hold their first show at Pamuzinda Highway X-Scape.
The band is currently riding high on its recently released second album entitled Still Alive.
“Too Open is still alive, kicking and going strong. Fans should expect a groovy afternoon. We will play songs from our latest album, our first album Zororo and some of the original work we are yet to release,” said drummer and band manager Lloyd Chidikano.
The band plays laid-back Zimbabwean adult contemporary music for the mature listener.
Their lyrics explore a variety of themes including love, gospel and societal challenges.
This move to take jazz to a wider audience at Pamuzinda Highway X-Scape, which is one of Harare’s premier open-air entertainment venues is billed to show quality family entertainment.
This is also the first time the youthful band performs under such a setting. Up to now, Too Open exclusively performed in clubs and pubs — venues that are not suitable for family outings. Pamuzinda Highway X-Scape recently launched a Sunday Jazz Scene with a feel-good vibe.
The family-friendly venue provides a lovely and relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The session runs between 1400hrs and 1700hrs and caters for a variety of tastes. It blends old school music and a variety of live performances.

“Pamuzinda is the original home of family-oriented open-air entertainment. We are focused on providing great entertainment value to our patrons and we will always innovate in line with market trends,” said Victor Chiraga Jr, the managing director of Pamuzinda.
Management also provides a clean and safe environment for children with jumping castles and Ajigija the clown to keep them entertained.
Chiraga said that while Sunday afternoon has now been set aside for live jazz, Harare’s top old school soul and R’n’B DJs will still be on hand to thrill patrons.
He also said that patrons should expect to see a variety of jazz outfits performing live at Pamuzinda.
